Service Description

In this hands-on afterschool series, students become young engineers as they explore the powerful connection between maths, design, and construction. Each session dives into a real-world challenge, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving through play. Week 1: Dome Sweet Dome Discover the secrets behind strong structures as we roll, fold, and connect our way to a full-sized geodesic dome — and learn why triangles are nature’s favourite shape! Week 2: How We Roll Build eggbox cars with different wheel designs to explore why wheels are round and how centre of mass affects motion. Test, tweak, and race your creations to find the smoothest ride! Week 3: Blast Off! Engineer and launch your own paper rockets using compressed air as we investigate aerodynamics and flight. Experiment with fins, nose shapes, and angles to see what makes a rocket soar. Week 4: Gear Up! Explore how gears of different sizes work together and discover the maths behind ratios in motion. Build simple mechanisms and see how changing gear combinations changes speed and force. Week 5: Rollercoaster Tycoons Design marble rollercoasters from cardboard tubes while investigating angles, gradients, and gravity. Create loops, drops, and turns — then send your marble on the ride of its life!
