Service Description

The computing series provides fantastic links to the real world and introduces the exciting world of computer science! Week 1: How Do Computers Count? Did I read your mind or did I do some maths? We explore binary and other counting systems through a mind reading trick. Week 2: Human Sorting Network Become part of a giant computer circuit! Pupils act as data moving through a “sorting machine,” following simple logic rules to organise numbers just like a real algorithm does. Week 3: Computer Formation Based on Cixin Liu’s Three Boby Problem, students assemble to form a human computer that can perform basic logic tasks. Week 4: Domino Circuits Don't let them topple! Logic gates and circuits built from dominos make for a carefully constructed class! Week 5: Cyphers and Encryption Secret messages and codes have been used by Roman emperors, World War 2 submarines and to protect of money. We look at different codes and create our own secret messages.
